During the Expert meeting, a group of 20 experts from both private and public organizations, including researchers and scientific coordinators from academic and collaborating clinical hospitals (STZ), representatives of companies and umbrella organisations, met to discuss the results of the EU benchmark and survey that were conducted previously about clinical research conditions in the Netherlands.
The invited experts gave their opinions and recommendations on three topics: Academic Excellence, Ease of conducting trials, and Patient participation.
The general conclusion of the meeting was that experts are moderately positive about how attractive the Netherlands is for clinical trials. They indicated that the Netherlands is an innovative country with a good reputation in the field of research. But they are concerned other countries are better able to attract and implement new trials better. They believe it is time for Dutch stakeholders to take action together to increase the attractiveness of the Netherlands for clinical trials.
